You have misunderstood.  It is not meant to punish people for being  
crude by modern standards.  It is meant to encourage people to speak  
and act more like nobles.

"Vulgarity" means speaking or acting like a commoner.

The "punishment" is entirely IC, and **EXACTLY** what the character  
would have suffered for speaking or acting like a commoner.

And for goodness sake, it's just 1 point of honour!  It's not going  
to kill you!
