...have you ever seen this happen, except perhaps in relams with elected 
governments?

Also, the ruler is on a bit of a power trip with the whole "I'm the 
ruler and you're not, nyah" business. I thought you said that didn't 
happen enough?

A ruler doesn't have to have much support to get elected, particularly 
in smaller realms (which I tend to stick to for promotional purposes)
