Another way to look at things is that it's not so much about winning.
But not losing. Remember the (recent?) history of the island. Someone
will get ganged up upon. If you make a decent treaty, that won't be you!
(until they changed their mind and hit you anyway)
Problem with not wanting to lose is that... you aim to minimise your
losses in battle thus you try not to fight battles that you probably
will lose.. so less and less battles as the other side isn't going to
give you easy wins either.
Would be funny if every realm on the island has identical income
regardless of region possession and income is spread equally between all
characters in the realm. Would that encourage more risk taking by small
realms? - building works to be funded separately via region treasury not
linked to characters.
