Some notes and ramblings:
Every religion should be trying to spread over every island. There should
be more religions declaring each other evil. The reason this doesn't happen
is the sad combination of politics and religion. Why wouldn't Darkanism
view The Order as evil? Wouldn't accepting that Darkanism can't spread to
Eston be admitting that Darka's gods aren't all powerful?
Priests obviously need more to do.
Perhaps religion's need 'attributes' that indicate how their believers
behave. That way the religion of dance and the religion of standing still
would get into peasant mob battles, regardless of how 'evil' the ruler
declared them. Religious leaders not only defined what they're peasants
believed, but they also adapted to it, so maybe religions should hate each
other regardless of what the leader's think. If your people buy into your
message they may tear down other temples without your blessing.
Churchs should get more cash from the peasants asides taxes. That makes
them powerful. Religion is an underlying power structure built on money.
That's why the King of France feared the protestants, because he was losing
power and money to them.
Peasants should be more fickle, if another region suddenly swept into Darka,
it would create some neat roleplay. Or maybe preaching just needs to be
reformed in some way to make it exciting.
I've never played a priest so I don't know what they can do, but I think
their world needs to be more dynamic than static. More concerned with
religious affairs than realm affairs.
