[Discuss] Advanced Battle Formations

My marshal is now able to use some of the more advanced battle formations
and we had a situation recently where a superior force was attacking us and
it looked like some of the formations might be useful.  However, my general
stated that nearly everyone she knows that used them have lost their
battles.

Is she right?  I have noticed that I never see anything but infantry wall,
infantry charge, and archer opening used, but I thought it was because most
marshals aren't experienced enough, but I guess most marshals just don't
think they work.  It would be fun if I had advanced formations that I could
actually use as marshal.
