Talking to the noble in question if he's doing it purely for
entertainment, well ok.
But "restitution"???
That judge is positively insane, and I don't mean as in "funny", I
really mean as in mentally ill. In modern terms that's like breaking
into the zoo (happens), setting the animals free (happens, rarely) and
giving them money so they can take the next place home (insane).

Once again I'll state the fact that the judge had nothing to do with this,
it was the people of the realm who decided this with the kings backing, in
fact the judge doesn't even like the idea.
