Doesn't work that way.
Cons of realm destruction:
* Bad diplomatic reputation (maybe)
* Claims that stick around until a database cleanup deletes the realm (2
weeks - 1 month, given semi-recent experience)
Pros of realm destruction:
* No more annoying diplomacy with that pesky realm
* No worries about the old enemy gaining power and stabbing you in the back
* Free and clear title to /all/ of the realm's regions, eventually.
* A definite end to claims. A month is quite a while, but the war may
have lasted even longer.
* The only real way to take over a capital / last city.
* Peace through victory
Even with claims, pros, outweigh cons substantially. The idea that
claims prevent a determined foe from destroying a realm is a pipe dream.
Instead, claims prevent minor skirmishes and low-intensity wars. Now,
fi you're going to go to war, you may as well make it a big one. The
effect of claims seems to be the opposite of its intent, since a
stronger realm can't just take one region and stop.
