In other parts of the world archery were a respected skill.
In ancient times Chinese aristocrat had archery as one of
the skills to learn besides music and recitals, followed by
Confucian endorsement of the bow which helped made archery
a requirement in the military examination from 702AD onwards,
a practice discontinued in the 19-20th century.
Horsemanship and archery was a foundation stone of the
Manchu dynasty and its decline was an issue of concern for
the Emperor in 18th century.
Samurai were expected to be expert with the bow, though the
practice declined after the 1200s, it was still a respected
martial skill.
Genghis Khan killed his brother with a bow and his army
favoured archers. It's unlikely they would look down on
archers as European knight does.
The Prophet Mohammed was said to be an excellent archer, so
it's unlikely to be looked down upon.
Also elves are stereotyped to favour bows and longswords.
