I will not have words placed in my characters' mouths, nor actions done 
in his name that he did not do.  That's not a game -- in a game choices 
matter.

Just because someone else says your character did something, doesn't mean they actually did. Hey, I've started wars through carefully worked out misinformation (I don't like saying "lies" :-)  ) and have managed to remove rulers from their position in similar ways. It's all just how much you can convince people that a lie is actually true. A good bit of slander and such can yield great results. It's not people *making* your character do/say something, it's people alleging that's what you did.
