These are the options my priest has:


   - Return to mundane
life<http://battlemaster.org/testing/SwitchClass.php?NewClass=Knight>
   Abandon the faith and return to the path of war. This is a serious
   step, with serious repercussions and should only be made if you have lost
   your faith or see no other way in your life. The gods will punish you.

   - Become a Martyr<http://battlemaster.org/testing/SwitchClass.php?NewClass=Hero>(
   i.e. Hero)
   Die as a hero for your order. Heroism is not for knights alone, the
   faith can carry man far above and beyond the call of duty as well. Note that
   as for soliders, this path has no exit. You cannot return to mundane or
   spiritual life once you have chosen it.

   - Become a Mentor<http://battlemaster.org/testing/SwitchClass.php?NewClass=Mentor>
   Using the wisdom and knowledge you acquired in the temple to educate
   the young, you can become a mentor, teaching new knights the basics they
   need to survive.



Perhaps your character didn't have the honour/prestige/time requirements to
become a Martyr?
