Because he's wounded, and medival road aren't exactly the smoothest paved
ordeals. Moving someone who is wounded even nowadays is likely to cause
further injury. Medival medicine wasn't great either, so the combination of
bad medicine, and terrible roads (bumps= bad for bleeding noble) can cause
worse injury or even kill the wounded noble.
