discussion, even that only as initiate (or whatever the lowest rank
is). For people who could care about it in the future, would be a step
sooner. And might even grab people who wouldn't care much, but get
interested and RPs even that just a little bit about it.

For people who wouldn't care anyway, just do as many do today: ignore
it. This can be helped if we could sort messages from religious order
aside from regular messages.

Yes, like it was ages ago. You were born among jews, you were jew,
your family would teach you the traditions. You were born among
catholics you had to celebrate holidays and do as your family told
you. By the age of 20, you would only know your family religious
beliefs and little more or you would be heading out to the world to
search for something that suited you best. Though changing religions
shouldn't be taken lightly in the middle ages, is an aspect in which
BM should be a little modern, or religions will be too static, and new
religions will likely never grow. It could be harder, though.

I think I didn't make myself clear the previous post, then, Tessa.

My intention was only to try to enhance roleplay, to have a family
tradition of sorts, add a simple way to do it ingame, and improve a
bit the religion importance and its relation to nobility in our middle
ages scenery.

The steps would be:
1. You join the game and create your family name.
2. You click to create your first character, pick the name, the
gender, experience, the realm.
3. You see a screen saying something like: Your family comes from
Menedor, Atamara. You can now choose the religion that your family
believes in. The main faiths in the region are:
- Magna Serpaensism
- The Way of the Warrior Saints
- The Venerable Order of the Citadel
- etc
- Paganism
With a selection box besides them. Each religion could have a link to
its ingame description and wiki page. You choose and click ok.
4. Next page you'll have the choice between paganism and whateverism
for this character. Then the game starts.

For #2son and so forth, the choice of the religion could be in the
same page as the name and gender, or as the unit kind and experience.
The family religion would not be changed in any way, even if all of
the family characters get away from it, unless you want to change it,
then you'd have a penalty in all of your characters (in prestige, I
would figure, since it is not prestigious to have a family that
suddenly declares they are changing beliefs), + possibly a sum of
money, since the family would have to demolish a chapel down and build
a new one, stuff like that.

#2 son, #3 son and so forth would be able to pick from family religion
and paganism, so if their beliefs are way different from his family,
he can choose to be outside of it. Maybe the influence of the family
religion in the region could be smaller the most members they have in
other beliefs.

Now, I'm not trying to make a definitive idea, but first suggest how
the relation between nobles and religion could be better entangled.
Many of the points made were valid, and I open the suggestion for you
to debate more properly...
