I think "serious wound" is supposed to be something that our players
think could kill them.  The fact that it actually never has to one of
the PC Nobles is inconsequential.  There are surely other Nobles that
have been stabbed and died.

So, what it boils down to is:  Would your character choose to get a
wound that the doctors will say, "We don't think she'll survive"?
