Thanks, have installed it, and it's (unsurprisingly) rather nicer than
Outlook Express :-)
Sadly, the threads are still all over the place - I can see I'm just
going to have to get used to that. Unless I've done something wrong,
here is an image showing how many threads are split into two - or even
three - in different places. Trying to follow them is testing.

The red lines show the threads that should be as one.
Also, annoyingly, both Thunderbird and Outlook Express ignore the
dash-dash-space before signatures when replying to the newsgroup -
making it rather pointless everyone bothering to add it in the first
place, but hey ho. I'm sure that there are even better software options
that are more compliant out there... but I'll settle with this for now.
Ok, I'm going to spend less time moaning and more time reading :-) ..and
killing Eston of course... well, trying to.
