Don't suppose it's related to Honour/Prestige as well? When I tried to
turn one of my characters into a priest, I tried to drop the unit down
as militia 1st as I had no idea what happens to the unit. Didn't allow
me to do so until the character has certain honour/prestige (can't
remember what it was.. can't be more than 19 honour / 3 prestige)..
could be entirely coincidental and related to just time in realm of
course.
