Do we have any confirmed reports of people owning a Unique items, and
what happens when that chariter emegrates to another island?

I would hope that the Items would travel with the person, but :P thats
why im asking.

 My adventurer has sold two items now so, yes people do own some unique
items.  As for what happens if they leave... I would assume they would
keep the item but they'll still get hit with the usual honor/prestige
lose that occurs when you take the boat.
