Muscovy to the Russian Empire is the only change that's contemporary to the
period BM is meant to be set in - all the others are from around the 19th
century. That and Muscovy was a good chunk of where the focus of general
Russian interest was anyway. Even then, the transition was more Muscovy
consumed other duchies (realms) and became bigger. Notice the common
elements, too - FRENCH Republic, FRANCE, Second FRENCH Empire - it still
remained French. And officially, the USSR included more than Russia, even if
inside and out no one significantly noticed the difference. It's not like
they decided 'We are no longer the French/Russian/African
Republic/Empire/Duchy, we are now known as Borisland'.
