I think it simulates the unseen political pressures...middle age few kings
had that much real power...I mean, they could give the orders, but often to
try and demote the leader of the military meant he'd march the army against
you, and the treasurer would run off with the gold etc. That's why the
protest option is more realistic...it simulates a large amount of nobility
being against someone, support a real king needs to get anything done.
There was an Ottoman advisor, Kosem, who managed to be more powerful than 3
Emperors who ruled during her time, because she had the right allies.
So unless Toms willing to code in the revenge/coup attempt options for such
a move, I think it's ok where it is.
