People seem to forget the the major currency for the Adventurer is Silver.
And that is what is taken daily from them.  Silver.  Something so
commonplace that the nobles don't even bother carrying any with them.  Who's
to say that the nobles aren't paying their silvers too?

Additionally, have you ever been in a region that was without food for any
length of time?  Your men begin to starve and fall ill.  But I don't see
nobles complaining that to combat this, they have to carry around a caravan
of food to feed their men.  It's the same thing on a much larger scale.
