Of course, it's a ridiculous claim, but this is how bad rumors and 
distrust starts. No information given -> people speculate and find some 
odd factor that gives them some basis to make a wild claim("OMG! There's 
a beta tester in realm x, he must be tampering with the game!" or "Tom 
hates realm x and is out to get us!" or "Tom likes realm y and will 
prevent its destruction!"). This is especially true when something 
happens that appears to give someone else an advantage.

That's why even a, "Hum, that's odd and shouldn't be happening" or "I 
know, wait a bit and you'll see where it's going" or "I'm busy now and 
will look at it more closely when I have time" is better in the long run 
than silence. Tom has responded to other messages on this list while 
this thread has been active, so that makes people wonder even more.
