I got a mysterious Fame the turn I traded for a unique item and issued
a recommendation few days ago.

I'd say after the broken code in issuing recommendations was fixed
_starting from last week_, you can seek a Fame by issuing a
recommendation to the poor adventurer that served you well. Your
kindness surely will spread soon among the low ranks of social
classes.

Now if anyone can verify or contradict this, it would be great.
