To clear this up, the prestige bonus is tied to the item. If you lose 
the item or give it away, the prestige bonus goes as well.

There simply was a bug there for a while, so some people kept the prestige.

bragging value


These items are _unique_. There is only ever _one_ person in posession 
of the "Ring of Whatever".
