According to the bug report, the region was bought out from under 
Yssaria by a Caligan noble.

Yes, there were bugs involved, but only as to how the results of the 
purchase were applied to the knights and lords of the duchy involved. 
The purchase itself was NOT a bug, and did NOT involve any exploits, 
cheats, bug abuses, or l33t haxxorz.

Tom's comment on the bug tracker, that you can read for yourself at 
the URL above:

"Ok, here is what _should_ happen:

The region and all its knights should switch to the realm of the 
buyer.

Do I read this correctly that this worked, except that the buyer 
switched realm as well?"
