Yep, John. I spent 2 or 3 months in the moderated list before I
realized something was "lost in translation". Not to mention my
messages wouldn't get through, would wait over a week to be
approved... and then, one of those weeks, Timothy sent a nice mail for
some of us that tried to contribute to the list but were in the
moderated, saying we might be willing to join the unmoderated so we
could send messages and actively participate in the discussion, in
real time.

Yep, it isn't working as it is right now. For the moderated people at
least. But, if the people in the moderated list are just there to get
news, it might be suiting for them. Thought 8 out of 57 messages might
have cut out a lot...
