The trader class provides a legitimate reason for a noble to ignore
all military and regional orders and go wandering around the
continent on their own. Unless you're going to do what you've
threatened for a while, and make ignoring orders an inalienable right
(which I think would be a *huge* mistake), it will be difficult for
people who want to wander around and meet other nobles to do so in
realms whose Councils aren't big on RP.
If you were to implement functionality similar to the "courtier"
class from one April Fools' Day, or otherwise made some incentive for
realms to have contact like that described above with other realms--
*and* made it feasible for nobles new to the realm, and maybe even
new to their careers, to generate that incentive--then that would
remove the necessity for this part of the class.
There are other parts of the class that might yet need replacing, but
I only got 4 hours of sleep, so I can't think of them ;-)
