That's an interesting idea. Rather than list it on the Travel page, though,
perhaps it should be in one of the investigation options for the adventurer.
Under the Actions tab, there are options for:
# Mix with the locals - find out what ails them. (takes 2 hours)
# Scout this region - gather detailed information about the region,
its infrastructure and people located here. (2 hours)
Fold the information into one of those two things. Or put it under the Quests ->
Investigate action. It shouldn't be something that you get for free.

I'm not sure that paying gold to bring in sages is a good idea, though. They're
supposed to be mysterious and hard to find.
As far as the time scale, yes it is tough to get the items to the sage in time to
still meet his requirements. I haven't ever done it, but I have given items to t
others who have met the deadline.
You also have to remember that the sages follow routes. They move to other
regions, and will eventually come back. I hung out in a region for a couple days
waiting for him to come back after I found the items he wanted. He did come
back, though, and I got my unique item made.
If it becomes possible to essentially bribe sages to come to a specific region,
then the rich region lords will have all the sages. It will no longer be a special
event to find a sage. You'll just go to the Sage's Convention in Ossmat, and
Enweilios whenever you need one.
