[Discuss] Was Adventurers and Religion, Now Combining Priests and Adventurers

There is really something to that. Recall two important points: firstly, adventurers are not mere commoners. They are members of Noble Families, if perhaps through an indiscretion. An illegitimate son could inherit in cases where no legitimate heir could be found.

Secondly: priests were often second sons of landed families. You needed that second son as a spare in case your first son encountered a mishap, but you often wanted him safely out of the way so that there was no struggle for or separation of the lands. For this reason, second sons were often shuffled off into the priesthood. (Which is also why there were so many priests who were more interested in politics.)
