 Well, that still leaves a trail of messages, which as I already said, any
spymaster would avoid.

Plus, the point of anonymous messages wasn't just for spies. People wanting
to whistleblow anonymously, angry people wanting to send death threats or
insults, or simply wanting to mess around with people's heads. That kind of
stuff you can't use middle men for.
