Speaking from experience, yes, they do. In fact, people will more  
frequently open up and give in to people they don't know than to  
people they do. I imagine it's a similar sort of behavior,  
psychologically speaking, as when someone goes to a bar or club and  
just pours their heart out to somebody they don't even know.

But, yes, on EC, way back in the day, most of our spies were people  
with no personal connection, often serving through people in guilds  
they didn't know except as their contact. I dunno, maybe the general  
psychological atmosphere of BM has changed in the past year or two,  
but, then again, maybe not.
