In the BattleMaster world, at least recently, an assassination attempts
on nobles will, at worst, put your character in bed for a few days.
What happens in the RL present, or even at some point in European
history, is irrelevant to what your character knows.

Yeah, but those are lowly commoners. Your character, and his noble
friends, are so much better then commoners. How often does your
character see another noble killed by assassins? Nobles are obviously
made of sturdier stock then those frail commoners.
