Except when I vote for a ruler, I wouldn't vote for the rich and powerful 
family, I would vote for the guy who used to have a rich and powerful famiyl 
but spent 4,000 gold in the last war from his family coffers ensuring that 
the realm/duchy/religion/other establishment prospered. I don't think it 
would be good for game balance.

I think it makes perfect sense that if you leave a title open for days, it 
hgets taken advantage of, and in the end, that's your fault. Taking 
advantage of your enemies incompetence is the aim of most generals in war, 
the easiest way to avoid your enemy doing that is by not making stupid 
mistakes.
