Only a side issue? Do you have even the remotest idea how hard it is to stab 
a duke? To fgive you some example, we were trying for absolutely *months* in 
Rio to stab the duke of Grekh. We hardly ever got him, and when we did it 
was usually a light wound. I think we seriously wounded him once and he 
still wasn't removed from the position, and most of the times there wasn't 
militia in the area and I'd bet that people weren't patrolling the streets. 
We even had him in prison once!

So no, it isn't merely a side issue. I'm sure he had a plan to do it, but 
that was easily thwartable (not sure if that's a word, but meh).
