Every invasion is unique.

The past invasions were designed to wipe the continent clean. Maybe the 
next one won't be. Maybe fighting actually makes sense because the storm 
_will_ clear and if you're still standing by then, then why, you are the 
one who'se going to re-conquer and re-populate those regions that were 
overrun.
