Exactly!

Picture it: the wars rage across the continent. The people are so
busy fighting each other, they do not, at first, realize that the
undead & monster attacks have increased. By the time they do realize
it, their army is already far from home, and their homelands are
under siege. After a few weeks of wavering, the realms put aside
their differences temporarily, and band together against the threat
to all humanity--fighting, sometimes, shoulder to shoulder with men
who were just weeks before their bitter enemies, and whom they would
have slain at the first sight of their colours.

*That* is what the monster invasions *should* be like :-D
