It doesn't make sense to you because of the mythoses (?) you grew up  
steeped in.  That doesn't mean that there couldn't be a culture to  
which it would make sense.

Or if you don't like that, how about, "Before the world, there was  
chaos, and the chaos spit out a stone, and the stone became the world"?

Like I said, it's perfectly possible to have a creation myth without  
a creator.  You just need to be a little creative. ;-)
