[Discuss] Role Play Island.

Depends on what war you are talking about.  But you are being silly if you think that people are going to tell you everything.

This is still a game.  It is called battlemaster.  www.wizards.com has a role play area where you can find people who just want to RP.  But I am here to play battlemaster.  I like the FEI because it has stronger RP then the rest of the islands, and I have seen first had in these latest wars that the RP is stronger.

If you have not seen it, then you are not looking in the right place.

The reasion I am defensive, is because this has been brought up before....the last time I remember it being brought up, was when Tom stopped playin in the FEI because of the shit storm that came from it.  Was he doing anything wrong? no...he was keeping part of the RP to himself...

This is not a book where you are able to read the next page and find out the truth.  This is a game of RP where you may only find out the truth in 3 RL months...if ever.

Anyone who is PRO 100% RP everything upfront, are really saying they want to power game what you write...  You want to know the story, so you can write around it.  Doesent work that way.  This is Battlemaster, not DnDd20.

I am happy with it.  It is MUCH more RP then the other islands, and any powergaming is done IC with IC results.  What do you want us to do? write out a messege for EVERYONE to see about EVERYTHING?  That is silly and unreal.

If I am able to wrangle diplomacy around to where there is a war of 6 vs 1, Great, you should have done something diffrent I guess. 


What exactly makes you so sure all powergaming is done IC? What makes you so defensive? I'm not complaining because there was ANOTHER 6 vs 1 war... my complaint is how little RP there is around it, especially in the origins. 

And the attitude that you can't even roleplay something (say, to the RPG mailing list) because EVERYONE would see it is an example of the powergaming attitude in FE. It's why the RP is so dead and stale there. Because everyone is paranoid that other players are gonna read it and then have their characters act on it. Because everyone is certain other players are powergamers, in other words, who can't differentiate between player and character. 

Hence the current problem.
