Haven't had a chance to read everything just yet but I wanted to comment on
this.

In theory yes that is exactly the kind of thing we should see, however,
realms where the nobles follow orders to a T will do better on the
battlefield and thus kill realms that act more in period and spirit of the
game. That is unless there is some insentive for people to act like the
nobles they're supposed to be.
