I was a battlegroup commander in around 3 months (which put me on the  
Council, though not the High Council), and General in just under 5.   
I would have been Ruler, but I didn't have the prestige for it...1  
point off.  I was elected Judge (which I wasn't even running for) at  
that point, but stepped down.

This was in Ikalak on the SEI, which had been newly opened, so I was  
in on the ground floor, which made it a lot easier.  After another  
month, another char was elected Judge, and five months after that,  
another became Duke.  It was nearly a year and 4 months before I got  
a ruler char...for a while, all 4 of my characters had High Council  
positions.  That was...wearing.
