Any experienced raid/reiserfs/database admin around?

After installing munin, I'm finally closing in on what the real 
bottlenecks on the server are, and one of them is disk performance.

So - has anyone here tuned an mdraid using reiserfs for performance with 
a (mysql) database before and can give me some hints?


Writing seems to be more crucial than reading. I'm running close to 700k 
blocks per minute at peak times, at almost 50 mio. queries per minute. 
That causes iowait to bounce up to 95% of the CPU time.
