Tom wrote the FAQ, he wrote it like that, and he runs the list.  I've  
seen it in multiple other mailing list or forum FAQs like that.

It's an excellent way of demonstrating *exactly* why not to top-post.

If you don't read the FAQ properly, and you run afoul of something  
that's clearly spelled out there, you *will* be directed back to it  
for a more thorough reading.
