Its got nothing to with with "lightweight" or not. I could play for,
say, 30 minutes a day(thats fairly lightweight) and, in that time,
write, each day, one spanking good adress to the realm, or input ina
discussion, or what have you. COmbine that with, say, trading at a
normal easy pace, or doing loyal beuro work, or even just
consistently fielding good-sized(not huge, mind you) units. WIthin a
few months, in a normal or big realm, quite likely, you could secure
a lordship. From there, you have a platform, and a history. Keep on
participating one time a day, just one or two comments a day is enough
(thats what I did with Hireshmont early on). By the one year-mark, I
bet you could, if not already be holding a council position, at least
starting to have a chance at one.

Expecting a council position before 1 year is unrealistic, and I see
no reason why that should change. A year is time to, not just
understand the game mechanics, but be forming relationships,
developing friends, getting a solidly RPed character.

Also, some players RP their characters as being inept. If I RP my
character as being insane, I do not expect to be given a lordship or
elected, no matter how long I've been in realm, or how loyally I've
served the realm. Hopefully, though, my game-actions would reflect
that character's mental instability, and so even in straight
mechanics terms, I would not merit a lordship.

I did not say better players, btw. I said better families, in terms
of feudal hierarchy and, lo and behold, the fame stat. A famous
family is a good thing, unless you're trying to go unnoticed.

And the "rewards" go to whomever earns them, regardless of their
standing. But if a character has gained 597 council positions in the
past, clearly that character is a competent character, well deserving
of lordship/council position!
