The limit is there for the gameplay enjoyment of all players on an
island, not just a handful. There are plenty of other options to take
the lead on, guilds, infiltration, religion, they all hold power and
persuasion.
It shouldn't take you much thought to figure out why Tom did it per
island. I would be in favour of making it game-wide one council
position or Dukeship per player account. That would spice things up
much more and give newer players a better chance at snagging the
directly influential positions."
Have you read what I have written so far? I have already said that the code
doesn´t limit any old farts.
You enjoy something alot more when you gotta struggle to get it, as a reward
instead of just getting things for free, and without much effort. One
council position or dukeship per player account would not only have no IC
justification (more OOC play is not exactly what we need in my opinion), but
also make it way way way too easy to get a position. A lordship of a normal
region would become a victim of inflation. Meaning that its not worth
anything because you can get it too easy. Even council positions would
become a victim of the same thing.
