I can think of a great reason for Anton or Dante to assume control until DA
returns.  Because they're trustworthy enough to keep the realm on track.
Being elected ruler for a day or two is the best way to prevent others in
the realm (with their own personal schemes and agendas) from gaining power
and turning the realm in another direction entirely.
