Another related issue with the tax system as it regards dukes and such, in
the medievil system Kings were rarely *entirily* dependent on their dukes,
there were "crown lands" which the King extracted revenue from.  It was not
at all unusual for a King to hold the title of Duke as well outright, but at
the least his lands would certaintly constitute sufficent power (usually) to
equal a Duke.
