I like this, plus the Duchy Hiearchy ideas, cuz it strikes me as much
more medieval. In a manorial system each lord kinda *was* his own
mini-realm, and his manor (or region or city) was the basis of the
local economy, as well as military.

It'd be interesting to give each region lord diplomatic powers too
regarding other regions... this opens the way for feuding and makes
the job of the ruler kinda like what it used to be - preventing all
his uppity nobles from warring with each other.
