I can't find the original message that started this thread, but I believe it
was something along the lines of:

"How do we get characters to act like nobles?"

Seeing as how, (at least in my opinion) I'm playing one of the most Middle
Ages type nobles in the game - perhaps I should offer some insights/answers
to the above question:

Short answer: You can't make people play as "real" nobles; the only nobles
you can control is the 3, or 4 if you've donated, nobles you *actually*
control.

Long answer: You want there to be more opinionated Dukes in the game? Play
as one. Or, if you don't have a Duke, play an opinionated Region lord and
*make* your Duke protect you. If he doesn't, start a Duchal rebellion. If
you're not a Duke or other Region lord, either act like a belligerent Knight
and do what I suggested for the Region lords, or become a mere Noble and
start doing silent protests for what you believe the Ruler/Judge/etc... is
doing wrong. (A side note, it doesn't even matter if the Ruler/Judge/etc is
doing something wrong. Trust me on this ;) )

In short, don't act like you're going to be punished... and when you get
punished, make a huge deal out of it. If you get fined, make it seem like
the Judge is a greedy miser, (or, if you're a Region lord, make it seem like
he's trying to steal from your region) and if you get banned, go directly to
the enemy and do what you can to destroy your old realm. (They did ban you
after all)

And before I get accused of power gaming or just being an ass, all of the
above can, and SHOULD, be RPed out. Even the most loyal of characters can
become disillusioned with the Crown. Essentially, have fun with your
characters and don't take yourself, (or worse, your characters) too
seriously.
