I was about to say Inactivity will always be a problem, but I don't think
problem is the right way to go about it.
A realm will have people who go away for a day or two every now and then but
generally, huge realms like Abington, a few inactive nobles who won't log in
for a day or two won't be a problem. But when you're realm has few and
little nobles in between, it can cause a problem. But there are ways around
it as you said.
But I haven't been in a realm where some ones gone "Why are you all inactive
and not following orders!" for a while. There's always 2 or 3 nobles that
don't follow orders which I tend to pick up on and ask why they didn't
follow orders. But I haven't seen inactivity as a problem for a long time
now, it's something that's always going to a problem in games and, without a
doubt will always will be but everyone suffers it from time to time so one
battle Realm A may lose because Troop Leaders A, H, F, G and K didn't make
it. But the following battle those troop leaders may join in on the battle
and Troop Leaders P, O, I, U and U from Realm B might not log in and rally
there troops and they may lose the following battle.
I next to always ask why a troop leader may not follow orders but it's never
been because "I don't agree with the war", it's next to always because "I
didn't log in, had some personal issues to deal with" (from the Player, not
character) which in the majority of cases I almost always offer my help as a
player if they want to talk rather than badger them further.
But in issues where people have said "I had personal issues to deal with",
which the Character has said I ask what are they and can I help. I mean, two
or three nobles in a realm I am in have recently been dispatched to a
northern region to partake in something that is close to them. I'm always
trying to get the realms I am in a position of power in to become more
independent so micromanagement aren't left to the minority but are spread
across the majority because when that equilibrium is met, positions of power
aren't all that necessary any more.
The ideal realm in my eyes is a realm which has 10 or 15 nobles all saying
"I think we should do this, that, and the other" and the people in charge
simply pick all the idea's and go, I prefer this one. Rather than the people
in power coming up with the ideas and then choosing the idea's they have
brought up, as in this case people are left out of the loop. But things like
spies do intercept now and then but there are ways and means around these
types of things.
