I think Tom is suffering from police syndrome. The one where everyone
you encounter gradually begins to seem like a criminal to you. It
comes with the job of having to deal with the assholes of the game.

I've definitely seen players I'd consider "assholish." Mostly the
newbs/spammers who just sign up and then start talking about their sex
fantasies involving cats. That sort of thing. Of course there are
players with whom I don't agree on issues... no doubt many people who
play the game *are* assholes, but pessimistic and cynical though I am,
I still believe firmly that the majority of Battlemaster players mean
well and are good gamers.

One thing I've noticed on this discussion list is there is a LOT of
heated debates that go on. This too is a problem. I don't even
participate in them really, I say what I say and leave it at that, but
I think a lotta people (no names, cuz I don't remember them and I'm
not pointing fingers at anyone in particular) need to back down from
the whole "I'm right you're wrong" mentality when arguing on this
list. It's caused Tom (and anyone else who reads the list) grief in
the past, forcing issues like moderated vs unmoderated list, etc.

One last thing about the good players who can harass the assholes...
well, as Lyman points out that can be a problem. I for one hate to
give anyone a hard time, since I think the whole point is to have fun.

Tom, you really oughtta know that Battlemaster does not suck. Some
people might suck. But this game you've created is pretty much unique
and worthwhile. Whether it's worth the effort you go through, to you,
I don't know - not playing the game, I can understand how you feel
left out and apathetic. But I think you should try to get back into
it. Go incognito if you have to - you're the creator, you know
politcs, you know people will just naturally treat you differently
(either positively or negatively), but luckily going incognito in this
game is a luxury you can definitely afford to do. :) That way you
won't have to worry about other people being unable to get over the
fact that the player of your character is the guy who created this
whole entire Battlemaster world. Anyway, just a suggestion, and I know
its been given before, but I still think it's a good one.

Anyway, just my 2 cents plus taxes.
