Sleanra is a rather tragic character. She has had numerous bad things
happen to her(seeing her parents killed by monsters, people she loved
dying, a past haunting her, bad health caused by her personal healer
poisoning her etc.), the rape was just one of them.
I didn't create her just to have her raped and I really don't like it
that you're implying that that's what I did. The rape was a bit of a
test wether I could pull off such a RP in a believable way(a test of my
imagination and how I could relate to something that is a completely
foreign thing to me), but the thought of rape occured to me only after
months of creating her. There's much more to her than just that and she
really is the character I care the most about, because of the hardships
she has encountered.
It never crossed my mind to depict the rape in detail. I don't feel
comfortable writing things like that in detail and really, there's no
need for it. So I just RPed her passing out and waking up to seeing the
man pull up his pants. You get the idea without having to read anything
too detailed or offending without actually deducting anything meaningful
from the RP.
As for the strong reactions, do you remember what Old Grehk was like
after they saw that RP? People from King to quiet infiltrator were RPing
wanting to capture the culprit. The realm felt *alive*. A bit later
there were several people who RPd with me in private about her dealing
wih the rape. IMHO it sparked some of the best interaction any of my
characters has had with anyone in the game and was well worth it to me
as a player.
Now, if the mere idea of a completely *fictional* character being
*fictionally* raped in a *fictional* world gets you all worked up, then
I really feel sorry for you, since the world is a bad place and a lot of
worse thing are going on all the time and you see them every day in the
news.
