Maybe we need some variance in lightning bolts:
Minor Static Shock of Pain: like being wounded, they can't do anything for a
day, lose their positions, people get the point.
Considerable Lightning of Burning Pain: they keep doing it, they get knocked
out for half a week, lose all their positions, and are too incapacitated to
be able to stand for those positions again for a week or two.
Uber ThunderBolt of Ungodly Painful Suffering: character dies.
